Drug Rehab

Many people who suffer from drug and alcohol addiction need help from an outside source. Doctors who diagnose and treat these patients usually refer them to outpatient counseling or an inpatient rehab for their addiction.

A drug rehabilitation program should offer a variety of programs to fit the needs of each individual patient. The length of treatment depends on the severity of the addiction.

Outpatient Drug Rehab

Choosing a drug rehab is one of the toughest decisions a person will encounter. Each drug rehabilitation center is different in its own way. Many have their own rules, program options, effectiveness and pricing.

Those who attend drug rehab in an outpatient setting are usually required to attend a group meeting once a week. These meetings are used to discuss addiction problems as well as help the addict establish a drug-free environment.

Since this is an outpatient program most are drug tested on a weekly basis to ensure they are clean and sober. Outpatient rehabilitation centers also do individual sessions with the patient to see how well they are progressing on their own. The pricing for this type of service can vary depending on whether or not it is covered by your insurance.

Inpatient Drug Rehab

Inpatient drug rehab is a bit more extensive. In these type of facilities patient go through a detoxification period for one week prior to beginning their in-house treatment.

These rehabilitation centers help patients overcome their addiction by treating them with medication and offering therapy. Close monitoring is provided in these rehab centers and treatment is based on each individual patient.

There are more support groups offered in these centers as well as individual and group therapy. Patients are encouraged to talk about themselves, their feelings, and their addictions on a daily basis. Inpatient drug rehabilitation centers help prepare and teach patients how to live a drug-free lifestyle when they are released from the centre.

The cost of this program can be relatively higher in price since they provide shelter, food and in-care services. The length of time a person is required to stay in a rehabilitation center depends on how severe their addiction is and how they were evaluated when they first came to the treatment center.
