recovery from three broken ribs one puncturing lung. had chest tube two days later due to fluids.?

Question by Jeffrey C: recovery from three broken ribs one puncturing lung. had chest tube two days later due to fluids.?
I broke three ribs and one punctured lung. Had to have a chest tube two days later due to fluid almost colapsing lung. Had chest tube in for five days and am wondering what best rehab or exercises to do to speed up recovery.

Best answer:

Answer by If you say so
Oh , I can sympathise. I broke two ribs a couple of months ago.
They are still tender now even.Feels like I am bruised.
There is not much you can do really.
You know you are very inhibited due to the pain.
It is very important to cough a couple of times an hour though to rid the lungs of mucus.
You tend not to cough cos subconsciously you are aware of the pain but if you don’t you can get a bad chest infection or even pneumonia.
Take it easy , get some tlc and hopefully you will mend quickly.

Do addicts in recovery use support groups as their drug of choice?

Question by Veronica Katherine: Do addicts in recovery use support groups as their drug of choice?
So could members of AA who are ‘sober’ get hooked on the group instead of the alcohol, so something is still controlling them – is it about control rather than addiction? Is it too scary to have to take responsability alone? So alcohol and its reliance on it is replaced by a reliance on the group, a sponsor, or the great higher power itself? Can it be replacement rather than recovery? Isn’t it better to take full responsiblity and not rely on anything but ourselves, is that the only true way to recovery? to be free from it ALL and just be ourselves, uncontrolled by any other substance, person, or make believe fairy who will take it all on their shoulders so we don’t have to????

Sounds like you’re in denial. Most drug and alcohol treatment centers preach 12 step fellowships because they work today and have worked for many years. It’s impossible to get sober on your own. Human beings are born needing at least one other person to survive.

Working with people with Mental Health Problems who are in recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is my new job?

Question by CRAIGY WAIGY WOO WOO: Working with people with Mental Health Problems who are in recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is my new job?
I’ve been asked to come up with ideas for group sessions such as -
Fitness (I’m a qualified Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer)

Music (I’m an avid musician)

Art Night

I need ideas what to with them and get them involved.
All are on medication so it’s hard to motivate alot of the time but they do have to participate to be able to stay at the hostel.
At the moment there is a pond project. a recent barbecue build has just been finished. They have darts night and a cooking night.
I need as many ideas a s possible.
Alot of them can’t leave the hostel by themselves or leave at all.

This is a new career and job for me and I myself have been through depression and addiction. I really really want to help. I became a Gym Instructor as it helps with my depression and that why I am doing this.
any ideas appreciated.
